Aser Civilus is a senior at Orange Park High School where he is a 2nd year SWAT member. He began his involvement with the organization through the OPHS SWAT Club. In this role, he serves as a SWAT ambassador to other Clay County SWAT clubs, speaks publicly on the dangers of tobacco use and assists in organizing grassroots advocacy tobacco prevention activities for county youth. This position requires serious dedication as the time commitment is roughly 10 hours per week.

In addition to SWAT, Aser is also a member of Student Council where he was involved in the planning and implementation of Homecoming, a Senior Class Senator where he volunteers to raise money for Prom 2014, the Student Advisory Council which meets twice a month to help plan and budget for Orange Park High School, and the Circle of Hope which raises money for the American Cancer Society.

Aser is also a member of Thespian National Honor Society, and works TECH for all the productions. He has been the Technical Advisor for the Miss Orange Park High School Scholarship Pageant for the last 3 years. He is a regular volunteer at Ronald McDonald House and the YMCA. He is also  a member of First Haitian Baptist Church, where his father is the pastor, and he helps weekly with the Sunday School Class.

Aser is also a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes and a Varsity Soccer Player. He is the recipient of the Unsung Raider Award and a recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for his commitment to service. He has completed well over 400 hours in just the last year.

Aser is an outstanding young man and a huge asset in so many ways to Orange Park High School. He is a natural leader and motivator, a rare combination among today’s youth.

Aser will now go on to compete for the State of Florida Youth Volunteer of the Year award.
