Local Tobacco Free Partnerships Take Their Message to the Jacksonville Suns
May 2, 2016

On Monday, May 2, 2016, The Tobacco Free Partnership of Clay County and Tobacco Free Jacksonville partnered with the Jacksonville Suns baseball team to participate in the Charity Begins at Home program.

It was a great opportunity to spread the message of the “Knock Tobacco Out of the Park” Campaign and Tobacco Free Florida Week. Community partners from both Clay and Duval Counties attended the game with complimentary tickets as a thank you for their support of the programs.

Orange Park High School Senior and Students Working Against Tobacco Youth Advocacy Board member, Ashely Penafiel, threw out the first pitch.

“I am excited about this partnership and look forward to doing it again. When we work together across county lines and in the community, we can make a greater impact in the fight against tobacco,” stated Lea Rhoden. Lea is the Community Health Advocate for the QuitDoc Foundation in Clay County and she organized the event, working with Andrea Williams, Director of Community Relations for the Jacksonville Suns to recognize the organizations and their community partners.

We are already looking forward to visiting the Jacksonville Suns again in 2017!
